James Brett's Museum of Everything pop-up is extraordinary,
the "Store of Everything" is fantastic .......
but Selfridges "Windows of Everything" are the best!!!!!

Imagine devoting every window on Oxford Street,
a gigantic city block in London,
spanning the front of one of the world's greatest stores,
to "everything" that can't be sold!!!!

This is a phenomenal design installation,
and I applaud the Selfridges team for being sooooo brave!!!

This is a major tribute to the arts ....
but I can't help wondering,
who in NYC would ever be this brave?????

I love bunnies and I adore graffiti!!!!!

Driving around Shoreditch yesterday, the hot, new design mecca in London, I had to have Martin, the best taxi driver in London, pull over so that I could take these pictures ....... the newest triple-header Op Art Bunnie Graffiti!!!!!!

*****Note the influence of Israeli optical artist Yaacom Agam, the
eye-tricks game ..... the image changes depending upon
where you are standing ........ charming graphic
black & white bunnie becomes sinister
black & blood red version!!!!
From Yum to Yick!!!!!

Parquet gets a new life!!!!!

I adored this installation at the Established & Sons London showroom. Currently on view as part of London's Frieze Art Fair, "Wall to Wall" was created by award winning designers Shay Alkaby & Yael Mer, of Raw-Edges Design Studio. This design duo was born in Tel-Aviv, graduated Ron Arad's studio workshops at the Royal Academy in 2006, and are currently living in London, where they are continuing their long cycle of working together. Best known for their award winning "Stack," a drawer/shelving system which is included in the permanent design collections at MOMA and The London Design Museum.  The use of color in that work is exceptional and it is continued in this magical installation ...... using traditional oiled oak herringbone parquet brick flooring to create a multi-colored mosaic floor. The pattern is the result of staining the individual bricks, working from a palette of 15 colors.

By "shaking up" our perceptions of the traditional ...... in this case what a parquet floor should be .... these two designers are taking us on a magical, mystery tour on this permanent "flying carpet."

Whaaaaaaaaaaa's this??????

NEWS FLASH.........direct from London!!!! Take a look at the divine plaid manicure (top left)....these hands belong to my friend & House Beautiful Senior Editor on-the-move, Orli Ben-Dor!!!! Orli is in London to scout the Decorex Textile Show and along the way, she managed a well deserved manicure!!!!  Leave it to this "style maven" to find the newest, trend in London....."finger bling"!!!!! WAH Nails, located at 420 Kingsland Road in trendy Shoreditch, is the brainchild of another "hip chick", Sharmadean Reid. Employing "nail artists," who create a wide selection of designs, from leopard prints & neon 80's graphics to Mondrian patterns....the more unique the better.....Reid is " big mama" to the best "fashion accessory" I have seen in a very long time!!!!

Thanks Orli, you really are the coolest chick!!!!!
